On Nov. 16, the Hinesville Rotary Club conducted an off-site meeting at the United Way office in Hinesville assisting the United Way, put together Backpack Buddies kits. The United Way uses these backpacks to provide food for children over the weekend.

The United Way is always in need of volunteers to help pack for the Backpacks Buddies program. The Hinesville Rotary Club was happy to assist and enjoyed an outdoor lunch. Rotary representatives spent about 30 minutes filling the bags with the food items. Club members took on different assignments like bag fillers, moving boxes, breaking down cardboard, counting bags, and running the recyclables to the recycling carts outside.

“The Hinesville Rotary Club members love to help and support our community,” said Dr. Karen Bell, President of the Hinesville Rotary Club. “We believe every child should have food to eat, and the United Way makes that happen with the Backpack Buddies Program, and we appreciate Kristin Hopkins-Graham allowing us to participate.”

The Hinesville Rotary Club meets every Tuesday, at the La Quinta Inn, from noon to 1:30pm.
