A Hinesville woman lost both her pet dogs in a house fire Tuesday afternoon, an official said.
According to Hinesville Fire Department Public Information Officer Capt. Robert Kitchings, the Liberty County 911 center received a call shortly after 1 p.m. from a passerby who spotted smoke coming from a residence on the 800 block of Meadow Lake Drive.
The
caller told the operator he knocked on the door and no one answered. When
firefighters from the Hinesville Fire Department arrived they encountered heavy
smoke coming from the home. Kitchings said when firefighters entered the home
they found flames in the kitchen and were able to put the fire out within 10
minutes.
The kitchen was damaged by the fire while the rest of the home suffered smoke damage. The fire is under investigation and the Red Cross was called to assist the woman.
