A Homegrown success story
Brandon Standard

Liberty County native and former First Presbyterian Christian Academy (now called First Preparatory) graduated Brandon Standard, Pharm. D. is now the Director of Pharmacy Services with Liberty Regional Medical Center.

Standard’s story is one of hard work and perseverance, which has proven very successful in helping him to achieve his career goals. Tammy Mims, CEO, said “Liberty Regional is both fortunate and proud to have played a role throughout Brandon’s journey to achieve his goal of becoming a Pharmacist. He is currently serving our organization and our patients with the same high quality standards that are expected in, and required of, our organization.”

Standard’s first experience working in healthcare began while he was still in high school as a summer job serving as a recreational aide at Coastal Manor Long Term Care in Ludowici.  Standard said, “My time as a Recreational Aide allowed me to obtain a small preview into patient care and helped to steer my career focus towards healthcare.”

The following summer, Standard was given the opportunity to gain experience in the Pharmacy Department at the hospital which, according to him, helped solidify his initial thoughts of becoming a pharmacist.  “I was able to continue to gain exposure to pharmacy services by returning to help cover shifts during holidays and summer breaks,” he said, “and my passion for pharmacy continued to grow with my experience.”

Standard became a Certified Pharmacy Technician in 2013 and was accepted into the School of Pharmacy at Mercer University in 2015. This allowed for additional growth in his professional career and expanded his role in the Liberty Regional Pharmacy as a Student Pharmacist.

After graduating from Mercer, Standard became a Staff Pharmacist through PharmD On Demand who is a contractual provider of services for Liberty Regional.  When the position of Director of Pharmacy at Liberty Regional opened, he was promoted to this position through his service with PharmD. “It’s always encouraging to be able to witness an employee come full circle.” said Lori McGinley, Vice President of Pharmacy Management with PharmD on Demand. “When we had the pleasure of initiating our partnership with Liberty Regional Medical Center in August 2016, we on-boarded Brandon as a pharmacy technician. We were able to witness his growth as a technician and continue to support him until he graduated with his PharmD degree. Seeing him continue working with us at both Liberty Regional, as well as other facilities in the area that we partner with, and grow his experience level to eventually move into the role as Director of Pharmacy has been a true blessing. We are so proud to partner with Brandon, as his work ethic, passion for patient care and his sense of community embody the mission and values of both Liberty Regional and PharmD on Demand.”

“Liberty Regional Medical Center holds a very special place in my heart because the organization afforded me the opportunity to step into healthcare and provided me with support that allowed me to grow personally and professionally.” Standard said. “Additionally, as a lifelong Liberty County resident, it is truly an honor and privilege to be able to serve my family, friends, neighbors, and fellow community members.”
