Debra Williams, executive director of the Hinesville Housing Authority, presented the authority’s 2008 financial audit report to the Hinesville City Council on Oct. 15.
Williams and financial auditor Kendall L. Davis said the authority completed the yearly audit in compliance with the Single Audit Act. All public housing and multifamily projects expending $500,000 or more in federal funding must have an independent audit conducted by an independent public accountant. The next audit will be in May or June 2010, for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2009.
The Housing Authority of Hinesville is a
public body created under the state. The authority was designed to provide safe and sanitary housing for
the low-income city residents.
The authority’s board of commissioners has seven members, who are appointed by the Hinesville mayor. The authority designates its own management.
