Missing person

An HPD officer was dispatched to Liberty Regional Medical Center. Staff told the officer a patient that had a signed 1013 form but later refused treatment and walked away from the hospital. The patient was last seen walking along E.G. Miles Parkway towards Veterans Parkway.

 

Officers searched the area but the patient was not located. The patient had attempted seriously harm herself which was why she was sent to LRMC with the signed form. A be-on-the-look-out was placed on the patient and shared with various agencies.

 

Theft by deception

A woman went to the Hinesville Police Department to report a theft. The woman reported she receive a phone call from a man who said she was the victim of identity theft. The woman said the man informed her that whoever was using her identity was committing crimes in drug trafficking and money laundering and in order to protect her money she needed to withdraw all her money from the bank and deposit it into Bitcoin Machines.

The woman reported she withdrew her money and placed $2,300 in a Bitcoin machine at a gas station in Hinesville and then $6000.00 in a bitcoin machine in Pooler. The woman said she realized it was a scam l after she deposited the $6000 in the second machine. The woman said she attempted to contact the man but was unable to.

 

Criminal trespass

An officer was dispatched to a home where the homeowner reported someone had damaged his house. The complainant said he was in the process of selling the house and last checked it a week prior. When he checked the house today, he discovered someone had damaged his home. The officer reported the kitchen wall had a hole and the back door had been kicked in. Photographs were taken of the damage and the house was added to the house check list.

 

Reckless driving

A woman drove herself to the Hinesville Police Department where she reported that someone in a vehicle had tossed a bag of food at her car. The woman said she was driving in the number 2 lane of General Stewart Way. A vehicle drove up next to her in the number one lane and as it passed the driver threw a bag of fast food at the passenger side of her car. She reported she attempted to get the vehicle’s tag but the driver turned onto North Main Street. She drove straight to HPD to report the issue. The officer reported there was food crumbs on the side of her car.

 

Simple battery

An officer was dispatched to a domestic violence call. The officer spoke with a woman who reported her husband dragged her out of the house. She said she woke up and saw her husband attempting to take her keys. She snatched them from him and they began to tussle back and forth for the keys. She said they ended up in the living room where she fell on the floor and he grabbed her by an arm and her shirt. While lying on her back he dragged her out of the door. She reported the only reason he stopped was because she was screaming. The husband was no longer on scene. He left for work. The officer asked the woman if she could show him where she was injured. The woman lifted up the back of her shirt and there was a long welt along her lower back visible. The officer asked the woman what started the incident. She reported he tried to take her keys and that started the argument. The woman said she didn’t want to report anything but the officer said due to her injury and statement he needed to make an incident report. The woman couldn’t give the officer the husband’s phone because she said he had just returned from deployment and only had an iCloud account.

 

Shoplifting

Two officers were dispatched to Kroger in reference to a shoplifting in progress. Central dispatch informed the officers that the suspect walked out of Kroger without paying for a package of crabs. The suspect entered a red Dodge Charger and left the area. Kroger informed central dispatch they believed the suspect went in the direction of Veterans Parkway. The suspect was described as a black male, roughly 5-feet, 9-inches tall, wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt. Officers searched the area for the suspect.

 

One officer arrived at Kroger and spoke with an employee who said the suspect left the store without paying for a shopping cart full of crabs, steaks, and ribs. A female customer confirmed the shopping cart had about three boxes of crabs, two steaks, and anywhere between four to six boxes of ribs. The estimated value was $250.

The employee was going to get the surveillance tape to give to the officers.
