HPD Citizen's Academy
HPD patch

The Hinesville Police Department is now accepting applications for the Citizens’ Academy, a 10 – week program offering a unique vantage point into the inner workings of the Hinesville Police Department for the city’s residents.

The academy features two (2) different learning environments, with classroom experiences taught by Hinesville police officers and a variety of out-of-the-classroom learning experiences. Academy participants will gain firsthand knowledge about the department and a better understanding of the daily experiences of staff by visiting the Communications Center (911 Center) and participating in a 4 – hour ride – along with an HPD officer!

Some of the many topics covered in the 2019 Citizens’ Academy are:

•Criminal Law and Investigations

•Drug Investigations and Courtroom Demeanor

•Traffic Laws and Accident Investigation

•Gang Awareness

Classes will be held on Tuesdays beginning February 19 and ending April 23. Sessions will be from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Hinesville Police Department and Law Enforcement Center (located at 123 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive). Attendance is not mandatory for all classes, but participants must attend eight (8) out of ten (10) classes to graduate from the program.

The Citizens’ Academy is FREE to all participants, but registration is limited. To register for the program, or for more information, please contact S/Cpl. Kevin Remillard at 912.271.1221 or kremillard@cityofhinesville.org.
