HINESVILLE, Ga. (May 3, 2021) - If you want to build a career where you make a difference every day, the City of Hinesville wants you to join its police force. To provide information to interested job-seekers, the City, along with the Hinesville Police Department (HPD), will host a job fair on Thursday, May 27, from 5-8 p.m. at the Hinesville Police Department, located at 123 E. M. L. King, Jr. Dr. During the job fair, job-seekers will have the opportunity to meet with currently employed HPD staff, learn about the various divisions within the police department and take part in a hands-on demonstration. The job fair will focus specifically on open police officer positions. This event is open to the public and light refreshments will be provided. Informational booths and static vehicles will be on display throughout the entirety of the event. At 6 p.m., senior leadership will give a presentation on starting a career with the Hinesville Police Department. During this time, participants will be able to ask in-depth questions. At 6:45 p.m., following the presentation and question and answer session, those interested will be able to drive themselves or board a bus to HPD’s physical training field for a hands-on demonstration with experienced police officers and an opportunity to run the agility course. Those wishing to take part in this section of the job fair should wear comfortable clothes and shoes; a waiver will be required for all participants. Staff with the City’s Human Resources Department will also be on hand to help job-seekers apply for jobs on the spot using laptops. Those interested in applying for open police officer positions at the job fair should bring either a valid driver’s license or State ID card with them, along with a resume. Face masks and temperatures screenings will be required to attend this event. 

Minimum qualifications to become a Hinesville police officer, include:

You must be 20 years old or older

High school diploma or equivalent 

Valid Georgia driver’s license 

United States citizenship -DD-214, if having served in the U.S. Armed Forces 

Ability to pass a physical agility test, psychological screening, polygraph examination and background investigation 

The minimum starting salary for open police officer positions is $37,283. Additional benefits include a monthly clothing allowance and the opportunity for extra-duty work, earning up to $30 an hour.
