I-95 work in Savannah area tonight

Two of the southbound lanes of I-95 between I-16 and Richmond Hill will be closed nightly tonight and Thursday for repaving, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
A DOT news release said two lanes will be closed 7 p.m.-7 a.m., beginning today and continuing through Friday morning, weather permitting. The affected area is southbound in Chatham/Bryan Counties, starting near mile marker 101 and continuing to mile marker 86.
Contractors will be milling the existing surface a repaving the area, according to DOT spokesman Craig Solomon.
"This is a work zone and extreme caution is necessary," he said. "Motorists are advised to reduce speeds as they travel through this construction work zone. Message signs, barrels and cones will be utilized to alert the public of the upcoming changes. Drivers should be aware that personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to travel lanes.
