A Friday afternoon fire in Jesup displaces two families.

According to Wayne County Emergency Mangement Deputy Director Sharon Courson, a two family apartment unit was destroyed on the 300 block of Bay Acres Road.  The two apartments were the home to a couple with three children and the other apartment housed a single parent with four children.

Courson said the fire was reported around 12:55 p.m.  No injuries were reported and the origin of the fire is under investigation.  The Red Cross has been called in to provide assistance.
