Joseph Martin Elementary was awarded this year’s United Way Spirit Stick Award after raising the most money in Liberty County.

Joseph Martin Elementary School was awarded the United Way Spirit Stick Award on Dec. 11 after raising the most money of any school in Liberty County.

Kayce Masaniai of United Way said at one point Joseph Martin was second in Liberty County, needing $300 to take first place.

The school instead collected over $1,000, all together raising $3,998.

School Principal Rebecca Mock said during the Spirit Stick presentation how proud she was of her staff for their contribution.

Joseph Martin will keep the accolade for a year until the end of next year’s United Way campaign.
