Keep Liberty Beautiful in the New Year
Karen Bell
Keep Liberty Beautiful Executive Director Karen Bell.

A new year has started, and it usually is an opportunity for a new beginning. In 2022 Team KLB welcomed a new member, baby Everly Anne. Congratulations to the Rapolla family.

It looks like in 2022, we may still need to adapt to our ever-changing environment. What does that mean for Keep Liberty Beautiful? Well, Keep America Beautiful has an excellent formula for success! Since 1953, the organization has provided a replicable framework for community education and hands-on stewardship that reduces litter and encourages recycling, promotes grassroots volunteerism, and makes sustainable improvement possible for communities of all sizes. And I always believe that if it is not broken, follow it or modify it for your situation, which KLB plans to do.

Like Keep Liberty Beautiful, affiliates have built upon Keep America Beautiful’s Behavior Change System to create innovative, locally-focused programs that address the specific needs of diverse geographies and populations. Using the fundamentals of their time-tested approach, affiliates are reaching deep into their communities to effect meaningful, positive change.

Keep America Beautiful, the nation’s iconic community improvement nonprofit organization, inspires and educates people to take action every day to improve and beautify their community environment. Established in 1953, KAB strives to end littering, improve recycling, and beautify America’s communities. They believe everyone has a right to live in a clean, green, and beautiful community and shares a responsibility to contribute to that vision. Behavior change — steeped in education, research, and behavioral science — is the cornerstone of Keep America Beautiful.

Keep America Beautiful empower generations of community and environmental stewards with volunteer programs, hands-on experiences, educational curricula, practical advice, and other resources. The organization is driven by more than 600 state and local affiliates, millions of volunteers, and the support of corporate partners, social and civic service organizations, academia, municipalities, and government officials.

Creating a country where every community is clean, green, and beautiful starts with people taking individual responsibility and collective action. Keep America Beautiful extends the reach of its initiatives and multiplies the impact of its activities through partnerships with an array of organizations.

Developing public-private-civic partnerships has been a common thread throughout KAB history. It is an essential ingredient of their heritage. Keep America Beautiful gratefully acknowledges the corporations, nonprofits, educational organizations, associations, government agencies, and others whose financial support, sponsorships, employee engagement, and in-kind contributions significantly advance the mission and make their work possible.

Your community affiliate, Keep Liberty Beautiful, is eager to continue the good fight to keep Liberty County clean, green, and beautiful with our programs and events. We are modifying our procedures as needed according to the level of COVID cases and our environment. We hope you will consider volunteering and supporting us in 2022. Team KLB looks forward to providing a friendly, fun, and meaningful community program that we hope you are proud of.
