KGIB Community Partner of the Year
klb award
Community Partner of the Year/Non-Profit, Keep Liberty Beautiful Clement Cullens, Dr. Karen Bell, Theresa Rapolla, Lisa Choeun, Willa Lewis, Willie Cato

As part of the Keep America Beautiful and Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation affiliate network, Keep Golden Isles Beautiful (KGIB) partners with local and community affiliates across the state and nation on a variety of projects, efforts, and initiatives. Two of KGIB’s strongest local affiliate allies are none other than Keep Liberty Beautiful and Keep Savannah Beautiful, the 2020 COMMUNITY PARTNERS OF THE YEAR nonprofit. In a typical year, affiliate partnerships are essential, but during a global pandemic, these partnerships are even more crucial and take on a more significant role. KGIB works regularly with both Keep Savannah Beautiful and Keep Liberty Beautiful on state-wide and regional efforts and shares local project ideas and resources. Both affiliates, on board since its inception, have been integral in the” Georgia’s Coast is Not an Ashtray” regional cigarette litter prevention effort. Thanks to their efforts, cigarette receptacles have been installed near water bodies up and down the Georgia coast, and outreach and education efforts have extended throughout the coastal area. In 2020, capitalizing on a grant secured by Keep Liberty Beautiful, the three affiliates collaborated in hosting a Litter Law Enforcement training in Hinesville, refreshing local law and code enforcement personnel on state litter ordinances. This year Keep Savannah Beautiful initiated regular southeast Georgia affiliate meetings online, keeping 5 southeast Georgia Keep America Beautiful affiliates in contact and communicating. These meetings have been especially helpful in sharing ideas, strategies, and challenges and giving staff a local sounding board. The executive directors, Dr. Karen E. Bell and Ms. Carliss Bates are constant support. Their team stands willing to share, collaborate, and support KGIB.  KGIB simply cannot imagine doing their jobs without these two affiliates and their fearless leaders standing beside us, charging into the unknown and setting a roadmap for cleaner, greener, and more beautiful coastal communities. Always willing to listen to frustrations, find solutions, and offer advice, KGIB is forever grateful to them for their steadfast loyalty and unwavering support. For these reasons and so many more, the Keep Golden Isles Beautiful COMMUNITY PARTNERS OF THE YEAR AWARD / NONPROFIT was presented to Keep Liberty Beautiful and Keep Savannah Beautiful. Congratulations!
