two dead in gum branch
Two people were found dead in the 100 block of Howard Road in Gum Branch Thursday morning.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a husband and wife in Gum Branch.

Liberty County Sheriff Steve Sikes said the bodies of Billy Lupo, 53, and his wife Ashley, 35, were discovered at their home on the 100 block of Howard Road by a family member Thursday morning.

Sikes said the bodies were discovered at about 9 a.m. by Lupo’s brother who called authorities. The bodies will be taken to the GBI Crime lab in Savannah to determine the cause of death, according to Sikes.  The sheriff would not comment further, citing the deaths are under investigation. More information will be provided once autopsies are concluded, he said.
