(Hinesville, GA)- On June 8, 2020, the Georgia Athletic Association allowed high school sports teams to begin limited summer workouts with strict safety protocols to help mitigate the risk of spreading COVID-19. The Liberty County School System allowed fall teams to participate in these conditioning workouts. However, the LCSS has just issued the following statement cancelling all sports and extracurricular activities.
It read:
"The safety of the Liberty County School System students is a priority that we take seriously. After careful review of COVID-19 trends in and around the surrounding areas and in the state of Georgia, we have determined that it is no longer feasibly safe to continue fall athletic activities. As a result, all Liberty County School System fall sports and extra-curricular activities are suspended until further notice."
