Three fires and brake failure over the weekend have left two families of two displaced, a Dollar Tree closed for repairs and a home damaged.

On Saturday around 3:45 p.m., a fire was discovered in the female’s restroom at the Dollar Tree on 229 W General Screven Way. The Dollar Tree Manager said the fire in the woman’s restroom had been quickly extinguished. Investigators discovered the fire was located between the drop ceiling and the roof. The store was closed for repairs.

Another fire was reported at 6:15 p.m. that left one man and a child displaced. According to Hinesville Fire Captain Chris Moss, when firefighters arrived at the home they encountered heavy black smoke coming from the garage area. Firefighters extinguished the fire and the area of the garage sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. The rest of the home also sustained smoke damage.

A mobile home fire around noon on Sunday, Feb. 10 on Fleming Loop road left two residents displaced. The home was entirely destroyed and the residents are receiving help from Red Cross.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, a home on Ricardo Drive in Hinesville was damaged after brake failure caused a vehicle to strike a single story residence. A wall was slightly pushed in and furniture moved inside due to the accident. According to Hinesville Police Officer Stephen Menques no one was injured in the accident.
