A Long County man who law enforcement authorities believe may have molested a relative was arrested last Wednesday by the Long County Sheriff’s Office after he was picked up in Florida.
LCSO Investigator Tom Sollosi said Robert Lynn Carlton has been accused of molesting a relative for a seven-year period from 2002-09. The allegations were made in November 2010. Following the initial investigation, a warrant for Carlton’s arrest was obtained but the Long County man disappeared before law enforcement officers could apprehend him.
Sollosi said the LCSO had been looking for Carlton since December 2010 but had little luck until Florida authorities notified them that Carlton had been arrested for the outstanding warrant Jan. 31.
Carlton was extradited to Ludowici last week where he was charged with aggravated child molestation, Sollosi said. The suspect is being held at the Ludowici Police Department Jail.
