Liberty County EMA Director Mike Hodges said he expects Tropical Storm Andrea will bring about 5 inches of rain and 60 mph wind gusts to this area. There also is a possibility for isolated tornadoes and some high surf (although major coastal flooding would not be expected since the storm would be coming at us from the Gulf, not the Atlantic). The impacts would be most likely for the coastal counties, and be felt mainly later Thursday and Thursday night, possibly lingering into early Friday in the South Carolina counties.
There is still some uncertainty in the exact track and structure of the storm as it crosses near the SC and GA coasts Thursday night. The further inland the storm goes, the greater the threat of impacts. If the storm only skirts the coast or remains just offshore, the impacts will be much less over land.
