The City of Hinesville has announced that they intend to keep the city water supply functioning as long as allowable during Hurricane Irma.
A press released issued by the city stated it was their goal to maintain uninterrupted water and sewer services during the duration of the storm event. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be staffed 24/7 beginning Saturday with appropriate management and first response personnel. In the event of power disruption, the EOC will coordinate operation of on-site emergency power generators to power critical water system and wastewater infrastructure.
“While our goal is for uninterrupted water and sewer services, due to the unprecedented power of Hurricane Irma, there is still a possibility of short term disruptions and all residents are advised to have bottled water supply,” said Interim City Manager Kenneth Howard.
