The Hinesville mayor and city council at 4 p.m. Friday announced the intention to increase property taxes this year by 9.94 percent over the rollback millage rate. Before the tentative budget and millage rate are finalized, Georgia law requires three public hearings on the increase. Residents are invited to hearings at city hall, 115 East M.L. King Jr. Drive, at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Nov. 29, and at 3 p.m. Dec. 6 during a council meeting.
