A soldier, his wife and their three children lost everything in a fire at their home three days before Christmas.

Maggie Towne said that what they were wearing when the fire broke out about 3 p.m. Sunday is all that they have left.

So the family readiness group for Staff Sgt. Joshua Towne of the 3/69th Armor Battalion have started collecting donations to help the family.
Household items, clothing and Christmas toys for the children are needed. The can be dropped off at the battalion's staff duty desk, 515 Warrior Way on Fort Stewart, phone 767-4595.

Maggie Towne said they did have homeowners insurance on the Glenn Bryant Street home they bought in 2008 and they are receiving help from the Red Cross. But items are still needed.

She said all the Christmas gifts they had bought for their children were destroyed.
