Advance voting began Friday at the Liberty County Historic Courthouse, 100 Main St. in downtown Hinesville, according to the Liberty County Voter Registration and Elections Office. It will continue from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Election Day is Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Shuman Recreation Center, 800 Tupelo Trail in Hinesville. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day.

Former Hinesville mayor Allen Brown and Mayor Pro-Tem Charles Frasier are running for mayor. The District 3 City Council seat is a race between Vicky Nelson and Arthur Nixon. Both sets of candidates were the top two vote-getters in their respective races in the Nov. 3 general election.
