Smoke might be visible in and around Fort Stewart today because the post’s Forestry Branch will perform prescribed burns in the following training areas:

1.   C9 - 2,122 acres. Helicopter burn. Area is 17.5 miles northeast of Building 1 and 14.5 miles northeast of Lawson fire tower. Flames will not be visible from Highway 144 or Highway 119. Predicted winds are from the north at 12-16 mph.

2.  C10 - 591 acres. Helicopter burn. Area is 18 miles northeast of Building 1 and 15 miles northeast of Lawson fire tower. Flames will not be visible from Highway 144 or Highway 119. Predicted winds are from the north at 12-16 mph.
