The city of Gum Branch held qualifying for the city’s mayor and council seats last week. Municipal elections will be Nov. 8.

Mayor Richard Strickland qualified to run for another four-year term. He will face opponent Kathy Todd. Todd currently serves as Post 3 council member.

Jesse Strickland is the only candidate who qualified to run for the Post 3 seat, Gum Branch City Clerk Evelyn Strickland said.

The other incumbent council members who qualified last week also are running unopposed for re-election.

Post 1 Council Member Edward Wells, Post 2 Council Member Charles Simpson and Post 4 Council Member Irene Chandler will serve Gum Branch for four more years.
