A hit and run accident Friday evening left a bicyclist injured and then arrested after it was learned he was wanted for failing to appear in court.

According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Eric Wilkes, the cyclist, Jeffrey Allen Weaver, 51, of Bloomingdale, was riding south on Isle of Wight Road in Midway when he was hit by someone driving a yellow vehicle.

The driver of the yellow vehicle kept going. Weaver was taken by Liberty Regional EMS to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah with unknown injuries.

Wilkes said Weaver was responsive and talking while medical personnel were attending to him. There was no damage to the bicycle according to Wilkes, who said when he ran Weavers drivers license a warrant for his arrest appeared for a failure to appear charge in Chatham County.

Chatham County will be notified of Weavers location, Wilkes said.
