The Hinesville Police Department recently donated $1,600 to Susan G. Komen of the Coastal Empire.

The funds, which were raised during HPD’s Nov. 17 5K run/walk in downtown Hinesville, will benefit local breast-cancer patients and survivors and go toward preventive treatments, such as mammograms and education/awareness programs.

“This great program is seeking to help people in the need of treatment to cure cancer. It was an honor to present this gift during the holiday season. We look forward to doing it again in the spring,” Officer James Williams said.
