Lee leaving early
Dr Valya Lee

Liberty County School System Superintendent Dr. Valya Lee is leaving the district ahead of schedule. Lee was originally supposed to leave when her contract finished at the end of June and will instead leave a month early.

Lee sent a letter to faculty and staff this afternoon which reads:

"In an effort to ensure a smooth transition of the Liberty County School System administrations, the Board and I have mutually decided to end my employment as superintendent one month earlier than previously agreed. As a result, my tenure in Liberty County School System ends May 31,2017.

I would be remiss if I did not take the opportunity to tell you what a pleasure it has been to work with you, and for the children of Liberty County. Together we have accomplished a great deal and moved our school system light years beyond where we began on June 27, 2013."

The letter goes on to include the district themes for each school year during Lee's time as superintendent and her thanks to her administration for their committment to the school sysytem.
