United Way of the Coastal Empire-Liberty County intake coordinator Ashley Hunter was one of a number of Hinesville area residents who participated Aug. 26 in the "Savannah Helps Louisiana" relief effort for the people of Baton Rouge who were affected by recent heavy rains and flooding. Residents dropped off items at Connection Church and Rock Chicks Color Bar in Hinesville also collected items for the cause. Hundreds of items donated by Liberty and Long residents were delivered to Nine Line Apparel in Savannah the next day for transportation to Baton Rouge. A total of four semi-trucks were filled from the regional effort.
