Long EMA meets leaders
GEMA LONG COUNTY
Leaders of the Georgia Emergency Management Agency and Georgia National Guard meet with Long County officials at the Long County EMA office to discuss public safety issues.

Georgia Emergency Management Agency and Georgia National Guard leaders visited the Long County EMA office on June 28.

Topics of discussion were on the Townsend Bombing Range and the assets for response to aircraft incidents. Also discussed were responses for traffic management for people returning from evacuations, hurricane preparedness and Long County receiving a military liaison to respond to disasters.

GEMA was represented by Catherine Howden, chief of staff to the agency’s director, and Joey Greene, the director’s general counsel. The National Guard was represented by Col. Jeff Dickerson, chief of joint staff for GADOD.

Long County has submitted an application to the Department of Homeland Security for a grant for communications through the Southeast Georgia Regional Radio Network to have a better communication with surrounding counties. Local officials asked for help getting the grant approved.
