A Ludowici man was killed while riding a motorcycle in Walthourville early Sunday, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Trooper Lyle Thurmond said the man, identified as Jessy Florez, 44, was riding on Shaw Road toward his Ludowici home.

Florez was riding his 2013 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic when he lost control on a curve at Slaten Road, Thurmond said.
Thurmond said that as Florez approached the curve, he went off the road, causing the right foot rest to hit the ground and spinning the bike 180 degrees.

Florez was ejected and possibly struck his head on the handle bars. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Thurmond said.

The accident is under investigation.

Florez’s obituary said he is survived by his wife, Natasha Scalzo Florez, two daughters and five stepsons. He was employed by Southeast Auto in Hinesville and had lived in Ludowici for about a year.
