One man has been arrested and three teens are being questioned in connection with a shot fired near a group of teens in Walthourville Monday afternoon, officials say.
No one was injured.
According to Liberty County Detective Doug Snider and Walthourville Police Chief Bernie Quarterman, the teens allegedly "brandished" weapons at Riceoboro residents while traveling in a white Chrysler Sebring.
Quarterman said he heard on radio from 911 that the vehicle with the suspects was traveling on E.B. Cooper Highway towards Walthourville. Shortly after 4 p.m. there was a report of a shot fired at Hunters Branch and Retriever Way where a group of teens had been congregating.
Snider said a shot was heard coming from the vehicle. Quarterman spotted the vehicle traveling on Talmadge Road and initiated a traffic stop.
A search of the vehicle yielded a sawed off shotgun, a handgun and a BB gun., police said. A man age 17 was arrested and is facing charges. The three teens could be charged as juveniles. No names were released Monday.
This is the second incident involving firearms in Walthourville in as many days. Around 1:30 a.m., Sunday, Brandon Allen Terry was shot and killed. Authorities said they were questioning a "person of interest" in that murder, the first in Liberty County in 2017.
