Many closings Wednesday for storm

Here's a list of some of the closings we've learned of Tuesday morning.

Schools

Liberty County, closed Wednesday. School-related activities scheduled for Tuesday evening postponed.

Long County, closed Wednesday. Superintendent Dr. Robert Waters has said officials are still deciding whether to open Thursday.

Fort Stewart Schools, closed Wednesday. Students and faculty are also being dismised at 12;30 today.

FPCA, closed Wednesday. Today, the school is encouraging early pick-ups after 12:30 with excused absences. All after-school activities have been canceled and after-school care will close at 4 p.m.

Armstrong Atlantic State University, including its Liberty Center in Hinesville, closed Wednesday. The business offices and classes at the Savannah and Hinesville campuses are closing at noon Tuesday. A decision is expected by 5 p.m. Wednesday about Thursday's operations. Further announcements may be made at www.armstrong.edu.

Savannah Technical College all campuses, closed Wednesday. A statement early Tuesday said classes will resume normal operations Thursday.

 

Seniors Citizens

Senior Citizens, Inc. will close its Meals on Wheels kitchen, Adult Daytime Care Centers, Neighborhood Centers including Liberty County's, and The Learning Center Programs Wednesday. Extra hot meals are to be delivered today to clients so they will have a meal tomorrow.

 

Government

Liberty County offices, closed Wednesday, though emergency workers such as EMA staff will be on duty. Road crews are also on call, according to County Administrator Joey Brown. If ice is still present Wednesday night, employees may not be expected until after noon Thursday.

Hinesville, closed Wednesday. Some employees may go home early today. Police and fire department employees will be staffed, according to Assistant City Administrator Kenneth Howard. Public works will have skeletal crews on duty and others on call to respond to conditions.

Hinesville Downtown Development Authority, closed Wednesday.

Long County and Ludowici, closed Wednesday, though essential personnel will be on duty. Those affected have been notified.

Public Health clinics in Liberty and Long counties, closed Wednesday. They will close at 4 p.m. today. Wednesday's closings include Environmental Health offices and CARE Centers.

 

Military

Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Emergency services (police, fire, ambulance, 911) will remain operational.
