Firefighters from the Long County Fire Department along with a unit from the Walthourville Volunteer Fire and Rescue and Liberty County Station 15 responded to a mobile home fire at Country Manor Mobile Home Park off Tibet Road, Long County.

The incident happened at 9:30 a.m. according to Ludowici/Long County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Chief Chris Moss.

Firefighters battled the blaze for approximately an hour before it was brought under control. According to Moss a woman, who was asleep in the home at the time, woke up when she felt a burning sensation in her throat and smelt smoke.  When she attempted to leave her bedroom she found flames were blocking her exit in the hallway. The woman sought safety by exiting from her bedroom window, she was not injured.  The woman along with her son have been displaced.  The fire was called in by Roger Wells who was visiting Country Manor at the time.  Wells said by the time he saw the flames the home was burning rapidly.

The Red Cross has been notified.  The fire is currently under investigation.
