Motorist killed in Long County

A man was killed Tuesday after he lost control of his pickup driving on Highway 196 in Long County. His identity has not been released. The passenger in the pickup was airlifted to Savannah's Memorial Medical Center.

 A motorist was killed in a one-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon in Long County. 

According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Markus White the victim, Michael Godwin of Florida, was driving on Highway 196 in the direction of Hinesville from Glennville.

Godwin, 26, apparently lost control of his Ford F-350 truck and rolled over into a field not far from Flowers Road. 

According to Long County Fire Chief Chris Moss, the accident occurred around 5:30 pm.  Moss said there was a passenger in the vehicle, Alvie Wilson, 45, who had to be flown by helicopter to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. He is expected to recover.
