The Fort Stewart American Red Cross youth group, the Red Club, visited the Liberty County Humane Shelter on Saturday.

Fourteen Red Club volunteers came out to clean and care for the dogs and cats and the shelter house. The Red Club received a briefing on the shelter’s procedures during an emergency and a tour. The club donated cleaning and sanitary supplies to the shelter.

Karen Bell, the youth chairwoman for the Fort Stewart American Red Cross said, “Now that the Red Club knows the need the shelter has 365 days a year, many of the volunteers plan to come back and support the shelter, and the Red Club members want the club to volunteer again.”

The Red Club invites youth ages 12-17 from Liberty, Long and Bryan counties who have a desire to help their community while making friends, learning life skills and having fun to call  912-767-2197 for more information.
