Incumbent Robert Long has survived his second close race in a tightly fought Democratic primary for his District 2 seat on the Long County Board of Commissioners.

His reward is a third and final race this year. Mike Riddle, who ran unopposed on the Republican ballot, awaits Long in the Nov. 8 general election.

According to unofficial results posted on the Georgia Secretary of State’s website, Long finished with 145 votes (52.9 percent) to runner-up Charles Brady’s 129 (47.1 percent).

In the May 24 primary, only five votes separated first through third place. Long finished that election with 130 votes, Brady had 126 and Wallace Shaw had 125.
