Important Message Concerning Tropical Storm Hermine

The Liberty County School System has been in communication with the Liberty Emergency Management Agency regarding the approaching tropical storm Hermine.

The Liberty Emergency Management Agency indicated that Liberty County appears to be in the direct path and conditions are expected to deteriorate with the worst expected for early Friday morning.

Two to five inches of rain and winds at or in excess of 50 to 65 mph are expected for Friday morning. Based on this probable scenario, and under the advisement of the Liberty Emergency Management Agency, the Liberty County School System will be closed to all students and staff on Friday, September 2, 2016.

The district will be operating under normal business hours tomorrow, Thursday, September 1, 2016. The Liberty County School System is notifying you today of Friday’s closure to give you as much advance notice as possible in the event that you need to make childcare arrangements for Friday.

If there are any changes in the weather report, or Liberty Emergency Management Agency’s advisement within the next 24 hours, you will be notified accordingly. Thank you for your continued support.
