Shelter available for homeless

The city of Hinesville and Liberty County Homeless Coalition can find shelter for people tonight if they have no other place to stay, according to the city's homeless prevention coordinator Daisy Jones.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid 20s and rain, sleet and snow are possible.

She said the groups work with local service providers and churches to prevent homelessness.

"We have a year round hotel voucher program which provides emergency shelter for qualified persons, as long as funding is available," Jones said.

Normal office hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., phone 876-6573. Other times, the Hinesville Police Department has a protocol to address homelessness in the city.
