Small-town officials start terms

The Gum Branch City Council and mayor were sworn into office Monday morning at the Justice Center by Liberty County Probate Judge Nancy Aspinwall. Mayor Chase O’Neal said that over the next four years he hopes to provide more activities for the children of Gum Branch, wants to help the city grow and become more self-sufficient.

Gum Branch City Council members are Richard Strickland, Jesse Strickland, Jim Chandler and Charles Simpson.

Allenhurst
It was Allenhurst’s turn to swear in its City Council members and mayor Monday evening at the Allenhurst Town Hall. Aspinwall swore in council members Carl Easton, John Horne and James Willis and Mayor Thomas Hines in front of family, friends and residents.

Hines plans to do research into getting water and sewage for Allenhurst and looks forward to the city progressing.
He said, “I look forward to serving another four years and helping Allenhurst.”
