Smith wins Long County probate judge runoff

Bobby Smith will be the next probate judge in Long County, according to unofficial results from Tuesday’s runoff.

Smith easily won the runoff over Teresa Odum. Results show that Smith had 794 votes, or 60.5 percent, compared to Odum’s 518, or 39.5 percent.

In the May 24 primary, Smith received 912 votes and Odum finished second with 634. Rita Simmons Deen received 573 votes to finish third, and she died in a Florida hospital after an accident just a few days later.
