A few spots remain open for the upcoming Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Citizens’ Academy.

The next academy is tentatively scheduled to start Wednesday, Sept. 2. The 12-week academy will meet every week for approximately two or three hours per session.

LCSO Citizens’ Academy will teach citizens every aspect of law enforcement and the critical role residents play in crime prevention and control efforts. In addition to classroom training, participants will be required to participate in action-oriented activities such as processing mock crime scenes, learning about firearms, initiating mock traffic stops, riding along with a deputy on patrol and touring the detention center.

Seating is limited, and applicants must submit to a background check as well as provide references. The academy is open to Liberty County residents.
