Tuesday is Election Day. There are two municipal elections in Liberty County. In Long County there is a district five commission seat to decide and a county-wide SPLOST referendum on the ballot.
City of Midway
Two candidates are seeking to replace Midway Mayor Dr. Clementine Washington who has reached her two-term limit. Running are Levern Clancy and Neal Eric Jones Sr.
There are five people, including the outgoing mayor, running for the four seats on the Midway City Council. They are Melice Gerace, T. Gerald Lee, Stanley Brown, Henry Stevens and former Mayor Washington.
Voting will be at the Midway Police Department, court room area, at 10490 E. Oglethorpe Hwy.
Voting is 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
Paul Hawkins is running unopposed for mayor of Flemington. All six seats on the Flemington City Council are up for election. Candidates are Charles Richardson, Palmer Dasher, Donnie Smith, David Edwards, Tim Byler, Elliott Godwin, Gail Fox Evans, Rene Harwell and Keith Moran.
Voting will be at Flemington City Hall, 156 Old Sunbury Road, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
There are only two items on the ballot: a countywide vote for SPLOST; and the race for the District 5-Tibet seat on the Long County Board of Commissioners, which is open only to District 5 residents.
In the commission seat race, there are two candidates vying for the job, Robert Parker and Randall Klingensmith.
All seven voting precincts will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the county-wide SPLOST referendum. Voters in District 5 will also cast their ballot to fill the open commission seat.
