Treatment plant and trick-or-treating discussed at Hinesville City Council meeting

The progress of the wastewater treatment plant on Fort Stewart, the fiscal 2016 budget for Hinesville, and trick-or-treating times for Halloween weere discussed at Thursday afternoon's City Council meeting.

The wastewater treatment plant is between 15 percent and 20 percent complete. Even though th ise plant currently about a month behind schedule, the time might be able to be made up, according to a representative of Paul Simonton & Associates.

The cost for the project is more than $14 million.

Budget

The council passed a resolution to adopt the budget for fiscal-year 2016. The balanced budget is $35,661,789.

Trick or treat

Halloween this year will take place on a Saturday, and trick-or-treating hours were set by the council from 6-8 p.m. that day. Fort Stewart sets its hours to be the same as the city’s, according to the agenda item.

Recognition

Bobby Reynolds and Quantae Reynolds were recognized for putting out a fire at New Day Community Church.

Also recognized were people who had helped coordinate the recent Fireball Run event.
