A tractor-trailer carrying half of a mobile home down East Oglethorpe Highway on Thursday snagged a low-hanging support cable, causing a traffic jam.
Hinesville Traffic Investigator Lt. Bill Kirkendall said the mishap occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. near East Court Street.
“The tractor-trailer did have a lead vehicle and the driver of the lead vehicle tried to warn the driver to move into a lane where the cable sat higher,” Kirkendall said.
The top of the mobile home snagged the cable and bent a metal support pole it was attached to, causing the cable to obstruct traffic. Vehicles sat at a standstill for about 30 minutes until officers moved the cable. Hinesville police then opened one eastbound lane and one westbound lane of traffic. No one was injured.
