Shaw visited the Hinesville Area Arts Council Gallery Dec. 1 to talk about her story in the book “Shift Happens” by Nikki Woods.

“Shift Happens” is an anthology of inspirational stories. The authors tackle various topics which include relationship building, abuse, self-discovery, healing, mental illness, faith and achieving success.

Shaw, who said she always wanted to write outside of her career as a journalist, wrote about her twin boys that were stillborn in 2001. She read part of her story to the small gathering assembled and talked about her experience. Shaw said the topic is often still considered taboo. When she was given the opportunity to contribute to the book, Shaw believed it was the right time to share her story.

She hoped that her experience, along with the others in the book, would encourage people to heal and grow personally.
