Hinesville Mayor James Thomas and Midway Mayor Clemontine Washington were elected to the Board of Directors for the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) during the association’s annual meeting June 23 in Savannah.
Thomas will serve an at-large position on the board, and Washington will serve as first vice president of GMA’s 12th district. The district includes cities in the following counties: Screven, Bulloch, Effingham, Chatham, Bryan, Liberty, McIntosh, Glynn and Camden.
“We are pleased to have Mayors Thomas and Washington taking on this leadership position,” GMA Executive Director Lamar Norton said. “They are well respected by their colleagues, and I’m sure they’ll provide great leadership to the cities in the district and state.”
Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefits and technical assistance services to its 520 member cities.
