Update: Road closed due to man claiming he has explosives
Highway 57 in Long County closed at Baggs Cemetery Road
LL 57 closed
Officials have closed a portion of Highway 57 for what one GBI agent is calling "A law enforcement situation."

Authorities have closed a section of Highway 57 in Long County because of a man who is claiming he has explosives strapped to him, according to Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles. Bomb disposal teams from Fort Stewart and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are at the scene.

Highway 57 is closed to eastbound traffic at Baggs Cemetery Road and traffic is being rerouted. Law enforcement has been bringing in lights, which could mean they expect to be dealing with the situation past dark.

Earlier, GBI agent Richard Dial acknowledged the road was closed due to “a law enforcement situation.”
