The contractor for the Georgia Department of Transportation has rescheduled a northbound traffic shift from Monday morning to Wednesdya, tentatively, the GDOT announced Monday evening.

The shift was supposed to have taken place around 9 a.m. Monday in the construction zone on Veterans Parkway between E.G. Miles Parkway and Fort Stewart in Hinesville.

But an updated GDOT news release issued Monday evening the shift has now been delayed to Wednesday "due to inclement weather conditions" Monday and possibly Tuesday.

Motorists traveling through this work zone should expect minor delays as the contractor performs the traffic shift.

Construction will continue in the area for this widening project. As in any work zone, motorists are reminded to pay special attention to traffic control devices and signs and posted speed limits to ensure safe passage through the area. All work is weather contingent.
