The Walthourville Fire Department reported firefighters responded to four structure fires in one weekend. The report was masde during the city’s regular council meeting Feb. 13.

Interim Fire Chief Anthony Burns said the department provided assistance to the Ludowici/Long County Volunteer Fire Department at two separate structure fires on Jan. 27.

A woman was displaced by a fire that consumed her mobile home on Baggs Circle that morning.

Around 5 that evening two vacant mobile homes were destroyed at Spring Creek Mobile Home Park. Burns said the crew assisted Liberty County at a fire in the Gum Branch area which displaced a family of five that same weekend.

Firefighters responded to a residential fire in Waters Estate, extinguishing a small fire and saving the home.

Burns reported the WFD staff have all completed CPR training.

Interim Police Chief Jerald Burgess reported two burglaries and one robbery occurred in the city since Jan. 23.

He said his department had issued 31 citations, 30 warnings and made one DUI arrest.

Mayor Daisy Pray and the council members approved two new business licenses, one for American Farm Fence, which requested an additional license for the expansion of an existing business on Airport Road, the other for a home-based appliance repair business.
