Payless ShoeSource is closing 2,500 stores across the United States and Puerto Rico after filing for bankruptcy protection. Of the 59 stores closing in Georgia, one of them is the Hinesville store located at 519 Oglethorpe Highway.

A statement on the payless website reads:

“We would like to express our deep gratitude for your loyalty and your business over the past 62 years. Despite our best efforts to address the rapidly changing retail environment, we have made the difficult decision to close our stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico and have wound down our e-commerce site.

We invite you to visit your local stores that are conducting liquidation sales that will continue until at least March. Again, our sincere gratitude goes out to our customers for their support over the years.”
