Long Co. officials get in 'small pushing match'

Two Long County commissioners got into a physical altercation during an executive session Tuesday night in Ludowici.
Neither of the commissioners involved, District 5’s Robert Parker and District 2’s Mike Riddle, responded to requests for comment.
Chairman David Richardson issued a statement Friday, saying the number of inquiries about the meeting promoted it. It said a discussion during the session led to a “particularly heated altercation.”
“These two gentlemen possess incredible amounts of love and concern for this great community and its employees, but on this occasion these qualities stirred passions within themselves which briefly clouded their judgment and led to the ensuing altercation,” the chairman’s statement said.

Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles acknowledged he heard a “small pushing match” occurred, but said no one had come into his office to file charges.
